Kensington's most eclectic cafe, where the coffee is solid and the vibe is something you have to experience. Reliably weird in the best way.

We had a great time at Mystic Cafe in Toronto! We honestly traveled from Ottawa very excited to come visit this unique experience. My boyfriend has loved and advocated for reptiles his entire life and having this experience was truly amazing. I’m only slightly disappointed in how much we actually had the chance to touch the animals. We payed (a little expensive) to have a full hands on experience but weren’t able to hold most of them. I understand they were in shed but for the ones that weren’t the staff did not seem eager to explain or allow us to hold them and/or would tell us they can’t get them out. From videos and pictures on social media I was disappointed in the experience that we received. We had seen videos of the large lizard coming out to be fed or walk across peoples arms but when we asked if they ever take it out they told us no. When we would ask questions the answers were short or not able to be answered. What I had seen on social media was not what we received. However, staff were very welcoming and kind just seemed a little unorganized even for a small group visiting. When we come back to Toronto we will likely stop by again but hope for a more hands on experience like we payed for. Thank you mystic cafe for giving us a fun and different type of outing.

My kids brought me here to help me face my fear of reptiles. Where I grew up, these animals were considered dangerous, so I’ll admit I arrived a little tense and ready to keep my distance. To my surprise, Mystik Cafe completely changed my perspective. The staff were calm, knowledgeable, and reassuring, and somehow managed to make reptiles feel less “run for your life” and more “actually kind of fascinating.” I felt safe the entire time, and even caught myself asking questions which my kids found very amusing. The space itself is peaceful and well thought out, blending education with fun in a way that works for both kids and adults who need a bit more convincing. Every staff member was warm and welcoming, something you don’t see enough of these days in coffee shops. I also enjoyed a cheddar chive savoury scone that was toasted perfectly, with butter on the side (a small detail, but a very appreciated one). The coffee was excellent. I’d happily bring my kids back again. It’s a great way to support their love for reptiles without turning my house into one. which, at this stage in life, I consider a win.

Amazing collection of unique reptiles, fish, invertebrates, and amphibians that through the VIP tour you can interact with. I truly enjoyed visiting here with my beloved girlfriend (a bio major) and we both had an unforgettable experience with these majestic creatures! They also do educational workshops as well for people interested in keeping reptiles as well as terrarium workshops. Davey, Jackie, Millie, Muri, and Sher were alll very informative on all the animals here as well as how to care for them! Staff are super friendly and accommodating. Would strongly recommend visiting whether you are a wildlife lover or trying to get your loved ones, friends, and family to love them as well!

A truly unique and enlightening experience! The staff are eager to welcome you and make your experience special. Every animal here has a beautifully-crafted enclosure with its welfare and comfort in mind. I came here with my boyfriend (a reptile nerd) and his excitement and enthusiasm were contagious; he was in his element and my experience was elevated because of it. Bring your friends and loved ones here -- you're bound to have an amazing experience, reptile lover or not! No matter where you stand, you'll come away having a new or enhanced appreciation for these beautiful animals. Thank you to all the amazing staff for making this possible!!

This place is truly a hidden gem. Other than serving as a cafe, it has an exhibition room with around 30, if not more, species of live reptiles and amphibians, most of which are quite exotic and rare as far as I know. As an animal enthusiast, I was delighted to see such an “animal plus cafe” establishment come to Toronto. I paid for a 15-minute self-guided tour which cost $15, while there are other options that allow for longer viewing time and also interaction with the animals.
