Ossington Cafe Guide (2026)
Ossington Avenue is one of those streets that got good and stayed that way. It doesn’t have the volume of Kensington or the foot traffic of Queen West, but the cafes here are some of the most distinct in the city. Five independents, all different, all worth knowing.
Here’s the full breakdown.
Rooms Coffee: The beautiful one

The interior at Rooms is genuinely one of the nicest cafe spaces in Toronto. High ceilings, considered design, and a room that makes the coffee taste better just by being in it. Rated 4.6★ with nearly 600 reviews. Opens at 8am on weekdays. Get there before 10 on weekends if you want a seat without waiting.
Best for: Weekend mornings, dates, anyone who cares about the space they’re in Order: Flat white or filter coffee
Jimmy’s Coffee: The original

Jimmy’s has been on Ossington long enough to watch the street change around it and still be the place people come back to. Open from 7am, fast wifi, and a crowd that knows what they want. It fills up, so come early if you need a seat and plan to stay. Over 600 reviews and one of the most loyal followings on the strip.
Best for: Early mornings, working, regulars Order: Drip coffee or cappuccino
Forget Me Not Coffee: The charming one

Small, warm, and the lattes are worth the trip on their own. Forget Me Not opens at 7:30am and stays open past 6pm, which gives it a longer window than most on the street. The space fills up fast on weekends so arrive with some patience or come on a weekday when it’s easier to settle in.
Best for: Latte lovers, early and evening visits, a quick catch-up Order: Latte. The presentation is worth it.
Pilot Coffee Roasters: The roaster

One of Toronto’s most respected roasters with a flagship on Ossington that lives up to that reputation. If you want to understand what well-sourced, carefully roasted coffee actually tastes like, Pilot is the place to do it. Opens at 7am. The pour-over is the reason to come, and the beans are worth taking home.
Best for: Specialty coffee, pour-over, buying beans Order: Pour-over or filter, whatever’s seasonal
I DEAL Coffee & Wine: The dual-purpose one

Coffee in the morning, wine in the evening, and both handled with the same level of care. I DEAL is one of the more interesting spots on Ossington because it transitions naturally through the day without feeling like it’s trying to be two things at once. Fast wifi, open past 6pm, and a room that works for both a working session and a slow evening drink.
Best for: All-day visits, after-work drinks, the transition hour Order: Cortado before 4pm, natural wine after
How to spend a morning on Ossington
Start at Jimmy’s or Pilot early. Both open at 7am and handle the morning crowd well. Walk the strip north toward Bloor when it’s quiet. Come back for a second coffee at Rooms when it opens at 8. If you’re staying into the afternoon, I DEAL has the wifi and the hours to make it worth settling in.
